Does Masaya Hinata Play Fc Again
Then I'm gonna try to give this web log more than use than just posting translations, because those aren't exactly frequent and I kinda desire to write more stuff here.
So yeah, I might write my impressions on VNs I read in here.
And so, Aokana.
Watch that Opening. It'south good, really. Lookout man it.
Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm is a VN that was released on November 2014, fabricated by the same people who worked on Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate.
Aokana feels kind of special among VNs in that the plot focuses on a sport, something you don't see very oft then it made for a prissy change of pace from the usual, well, sort of.
The plot is basically that science discovered a fashion to make minor objects, like people, wing using anti-gravity, leading to the development of the Anti-Graviton Shoes or GravShoes, among other things. With the developent of the GravShoes, people invented a new sport, "Flying Circus" (FC).
The protagonist, Hinata Masaya was an FC genius with a bright future ahead of him until a traumatizing outcome he suffered every bit a kid that made him bitter and terminate playing.
Now when he's in loftier school, he meets Kurashina Asuka, teaches her to fly, and afterward both of them join the FC Club with Masaya every bit their coach, he starts regaining his passion for FC again.
So I thought Aokana was actually a pretty dandy ride, the story still has the usual highschool setting, with the protagonist joining a club to exercise lodge things, but it does have the whole FC aspect to alter it up a bit. Flight Circus, being the focus of the story, is introduced very early of course, and from the moment I saw the first match I could tell information technology was gonna be something very fun to watch, and equally the story progressed the matches kept getting amend.
Flight Circus is a sport played in the skies where the players, called "Sky Walkers", wear suspiciously-tight suits and fly around a square field trying to take points from each other. A magical sport.
The nuts is that you take 4 floating buoys set up in the sky, continued past these lines of light, and to score points you have to either bear upon these buoys or touch the opponent'south dorsum. Contact between two anti-gravity objects causes repulsion so there's a few ways the players can accept advantage of information technology. Sky Walkers too receive support from their "Seconds". Seconds are people who give the players instructions by watching the game unfold from afar. Past communicating with the players using headsets, they can tell them the opponent'southward electric current position in case they can't meet them, or they can requite them quick advice on what class of activity to take.
There are three classes of Sky Walkers, which are classified depending on what playing style the Sky Walker has, along with the kind of GravShoes they use.
First, the Speeders who focus on just racing to the buoys to bear on them, and GOING FAST.
The Fighters who focus on getting up close and touching the opponent'southward backs for points.
And the All-Rounders who can practise a chip of both.
It sounds simple, only there's much more to information technology. This on summit of some complicated movements and strategies players utilize fabricated the sport feel pretty thought-out and interesting. The VN really expands a lot on it which made it really enjoyable to read, kind of a shame it's exclusive to this VN, I'd like to see more of it.
This was probably the function where the VN shined the most. FC is such an interesting concept for a fictional sport and information technology'southward a lot of fun to watch. Only similar any good sports manga or anime, seeing matches gets you really excited and rooting for the characters, even improve when things start getting really intense and there'southward lots of special techniques and mind games being done past the players. Putting this together with the game's great art and plumbing fixtures music made things merely so neat to sentry, every FC match in the VN was a really fun ride with unexpected turns.
I thought the fine art from the game was fantastic, first of all, at that place's like a million CGs for everything during the FC matches, it's pretty amazing how much work they put into making sure yous could see everything that was going on during the matches instead of just relaying it through narration. It wasn't but all the same pictures though, the style they make some of the CGs from the FC matches appear kinda fabricated it seem like it was animated, adding a really prissy touch to the matches to make them more fun and dynamic.
But it's non only the CGs during matches, regular event CGs, graphic symbol designs, backgrounds, I thought they all looked really great and very detailed, even the background CGs usually have some fun things to await at going on. And the SD fine art on certain scenes was pretty fun too.
The music was also actually great, I mean the music you lot hear for the SoL scenes is sometimes nice but it'due south the standard kind of music whatsoever VN usually has, non that that's a bad affair. Merely the music that gets played during FC matches was just and then good, it really gets you into the mood of the lucifer and makes it just and then much more exciting. Add to that KOTOKO's great insert songs and you lot have a really good soundtrack in general. Sadly there's no Music bill of fare in the game, which I thought was kinda stupid.
Another one of Aokana'southward stiff points is the characters, you take the protagonist and the FC Club's members, along with many different characters from other schools, and they were all pretty fun in some way. A lot of the side characters concluded up being surprisingly memorable, some of them I even found to be more fun to watch than near of the main girls, though that doesn't mean the master girls were bad in any way. Of grade there's too the obligatory "best daughter who didn't get a route" which is ever lamentable to meet. Though everyone gets plenty of screentime and then there was enough of every graphic symbol for me to get attached to most of them. What I mean is, Aokana has a actually fun cast of characters who were all very enjoyable to read and run into their interactions with each other.
I of the all-time side characters was probably Shindou Kazunari, the president of Takafuji high-school's FC club and a fan of Masaya from back when he was even so a Heaven Walker. I actually expected Shindou to be some kind of asshole before getting to his introduction, and I was surprised to run into he was actually ane of the coolest guys in the VN. He'due south i of the strongest Sky Walkers and acts as a sort of rival and mentor to some of the characters. He too had plenty of screentime and some of the coolest matches in the VN and then he really left an impression on me.
Acting every bit Takafuji's Vice-President is Satouin Reiko. A rich ojou-sama type girl who helps Shindou in instructing the gild, as well as participating as a Heaven Walker. She's shown to have a lot of pride and a scrap of chuuni in her. A very fun grapheme. She'southward always at that place to enhance everyone's mood during tournaments, but she also has her own serious moments. Makes me wish she had a route.
Then in that location'due south also Kagami Aoi, who is not only Masaya'southward homeroom teacher, but as well the person who took him in as her pupil and taught him to fly. She used to be a Sky Walker prior to the beginning of the story, and information technology'due south fabricated very clear that she stood at the acme of the FC world. She acts as a guide for Masaya and the girls when they face their challenges, and she gives them all the support they demand to overcome them. She doesn't actively participate in the club's FC training since Masaya's the Coach, merely she'southward notwithstanding effectually to requite them communication when they need help.
Now I'll try to talk about each of the routes and the heroines for each ane.
At that place's 4 main routes besides the Mutual route, those being Asuka, Misaki, Mashiro and Rika. The main heroine of the game is Asuka, she's the ane the protagonist, Masaya, meets and the beginning of the story and the chief reason he gets back into FC.
The Mutual route of the game was actually kinda long and while it was fun, I felt it kinda dragged on for a while sometimes, though it did exercise a great job at introducing each of the characters and giving them some time before the story moved on to the point where the routes branched out. The high indicate of the Mutual road is the Summer Tournament, which is the first large FC Event you go to see and it'due south also the first time you lot watch "real" FC matches. It was pretty heady when I first got to this part, and fifty-fifty afterwards having finished the VN, a few of the matches from this Tournament notwithstanding hold up, though the ones in the main routes obviously get much more intense. And then the betoken where the routes branch off comes right after the Summer Tournament, as every girl gets ready to showtime their preparation for the Fall Tournament.
Starting with Misaki's route, I'm just gonna say she was the girl I liked all-time when I first went into her route, she has a great seiyuu and a really fun personality, so what's not to like? Along with Madoka she'southward the source of most of the VNs comic relief, since she's a really laid back girl who teases Masaya frequently and says giddy things all the time.
Misaki is the 1 who starts out equally the ace of the FC Club at first, beingness chosen a natural genius and gifted with talent at the sport merely her route is about dealing with jealousy and bitterness after finding someone who's ameliorate than her during the Summer Tournament, basically she'south shocked by the fact that mayhap she'south not every bit good as she idea she was and grows bitter towards FC and herself. I have to admit seeing the way Misaki acted in this route wasn't exactly pleasant, but it shows an ugly side of her that was interesting to run across, since a lot of people feel the same frustration Misaki feels afterward she hits a wall and finds out well-nigh her own limits, just the road is also almost her coming to terms with it and trying to overcome it, growing both every bit a person and a Heaven Walker.
Misaki's route was also a scrap different from the others in that it gave enough of screentime to some side characters instead of focusing mostly simply on Masaya and Misaki(though Asuka's did this too). You have these ii who are trying to make Misaki become a good enough role player to win the Fall Tournament merely you also accept the FC Club'south President Shion Aoyagi, Shirase Hayato, Shirase Minamo and the mysterious Masked Actor helping out Misaki in her training. Having these characters around made Misaki's road so much fun to read, mostly because they're all idiots who exercise some pretty funny stuff when they're together, at the expense of Misaki'south sanity. While not as interesting or intense as Asuka'south route, Misaki's was probably the virtually "FUN" route to read.
Rika's route came later Misaki. She's a more straightforward and by-the-volume Sky Walker than any of the other girls, which makes her come off every bit more strong, particularly since she takes the whole game very seriously instead of just trying to have fun.
To be honest, I thought her route was the weakest of the 4. I didn't find Rika that interesting, I hateful I don't dislike her but she just feels bland and not as interesting or cute as the other girls. The whole route is about making her loosen upwards as a histrion and make her have fun instead of doing everything seriously.
The final battle from her road was probably the weakest as well, it didn't experience equally intense every bit the ones from the other routes and the conclusion wasn't very heady either. Basically, her route was just pretty ok.
At present, Mashiro's road. Before reading her route, I didn't like Mashiro that much, through the whole Common road, she comes off as one of those lesbian characters following their onee-sama everywhere(Misaki in this example). She always seems to be post-obit Misaki and trying to copy anything she does, and so she wasn't exactly my favorite even though some of her scenes were funny.
Mashiro is the weakest Sky Walker from Masaya'southward club. Of grade, the only reason she joins in the start place is because Misaki joined. And so later things happen in the Common route and the beginning of her'south, Mashiro's non certain about what to do or where to go at present, but the whole indicate of her route is Masaya helping her grow out of Misaki's shadow and get a stiff player by her own effort.
As she's the underdog in the tournament, a recurring theme through her road is the whole Attempt vs Natural Talent thing where they say you volition never be as skillful as a natural genius no thing how much you endeavor, but together with Masaya, they effort to overcome this and rise on elevation of the challenges they come across. This is the only route where the focus is the heroine's human relationship with Masaya rather than FC, and I thought information technology was well washed. Masaya and Mashiro's banter with each other was pretty cute and very funny at times, and I thought they fit really well together. Seeing Mashiro talk to herself about Masaya was pretty cute, and Mashiro's parents forth with how they react to Mashiro'south deportment were fun to spotter besides.
So even if Mashiro'due south road wasn't the best, she probably ended upward beingness my favorite of the four main girls.
At present Asuka. Oh human, Asuka. The main girl from the game and past far the strongest Sky Walker in the guild. Opposite to my expectations, Asuka'due south route ended up beingness pretty special and I actually accept a lot to say about this one.
Let me showtime off by saying that when I started reading the VN, I didn't like her, just every bit I read her route my stance changed. Permit me tell you about Asuka. She likes FC. She really likes FC. Information technology was Masaya who taught her how to fly at the beginning of the game and considering of this she comes to really beloved everything near the sport. At first she was probably the heroine I constitute the nearly annoying. Fifty-fifty when I started to think I might actually like her while reading, she would just come out and do something that bothered me. It really didn't help that throughout the Common route and the other iii main routes, the VN is constantly trying to shove how amazing Asuka is down your throat, as if request "DO YOU LIKE HER Yet?". That's not to say that everything about her was bad back then, even when I constitute her annoying at times she definetly had her moments where I thought she was pretty fun.
So going into Asuka'southward road I honestly didn't know what to expect, I wasn't certain if I could deal with Asuka for the entire road, only everything turned out pretty well, to be honest.
Asuka's road is pretty much what you'd phone call the "Truthful Route" of the game, since it's the one where mostly everything is resolved and things end up well for pretty much everyone. This one'south well-nigh Masaya grooming Asuka so she can tap into her full potential and become the strongest Sky Walker. Only it'southward non merely Masaya, everyone from the FC Guild and almost every other character joins Asuka in her training so she can defeat the strongest opponent, Inui Saki, the "Ruler of the Skies".
I definetly retrieve Asuka got a lot improve during her road, mostly considering at this point it really doesn't feel like she'southward being forced into you anymore. It's just regular Asuka doing her thing and acting beautiful. It was alright. It was too very refreshing to see Asuka actually struggling to get proficient enough to defeat Saki(with a bit of despair thrown in). Asuka also played a very important office in helping Masaya get over his trauma, which of grade was a crucial point of the route.
On the "other side" of this road nosotros accept Inui Saki and her Second, Irina Avalon. These two act as the biggest obstruction to overcome during Asuka's route, and for many reasons, such as Saki being a powerful newcomer who'due south been undefeated until now, and because these 2 seem to threaten the existence of FC as everyone else knows it, and it is up to Asuka and Masaya to defeat them.
While I don't listen Saki that much, Irina is, just like Asuka, another character that I didn't know how to experience most. Through most of the VN she merely comes off equally a disgusting try-difficult who just wants to win the most efficient way and believes there'southward no point in having fun while playing Flying Circus, and she uses Saki to testify everyone what "True FC" actually is. This pretty much makes her some sort of villain, opposing Asuka's fun with her no fun, and I actually hated seeing her any fourth dimension she would appear on screen, but at the conclusion of the Fall Tournament, I think she got a chip better and I tin can't really say I dislike her after that. Aokana's really special in that at the end of everything, there wasn't a single character I didn't like, anybody ended upward beingness skillful in some way or another.
Just to wrap upwardly Asuka's route, I want to talk a bit about her road's Fall Tournament.
Everything leading up to the Fall Tournament was and so good, there was a ton of build upwards to her final battle with Saki, and all the grooming she went through in order to get there was very interesting to read, since she was forced to go through some very harsh training with some of the VN'southward strongest Sky Walkers in lodge to stand up a chance agains Saki. The route also shows yous just how powerful Saki is, making the expectations for the terminal battle just that much higher.
And I have to say it definetly didn't disappoint, Asuka's Fall Tournament is by far the highest point of the entire VN, nothing tin fifty-fifty come close to it. It took everything that made every previous match heady and cranked it upwardly to eleven. I can't put into words just how exciting this lucifer was, there were so many great twists and moments that past the point the match ended my eyes were virtually getting wet. Truly a fantastic concluding battle it was.
So that's pretty much everything I have to say nearly Aokana. It was definetly a pretty great ride. Information technology might take seemed slow at some points, but it was all worth it in the finish. Peachy build up, great characters, great art, music, information technology has everything. I would definetly recommend this one and I think it'southward something anyone can really enjoy.
There's besides an anime coming up that was appear a while agone, maybe even before the VN was out. We know nothing about it yet except that it's happening. I hope they do a good task with information technology, because seeing as they're evidently gonna get with Asuka's route, it'll be difficult to exercise the VN's art justice. Just I tin still promise.
And who'south all-time girl? Well, it'due south kind of a tough one, merely I'thousand gonna get with Minamo.
